Peter Dalhousie - Beechworth Preserves |
|
Beechworth Preserves has its roots in the Beechworth area of north eastern Victoria where there has been a long association between the area and the making of quality foods. From small beginnings in 1999 and due to popular demand the Beechworth Preserves business has grown from a home kitchen to now where the products are made in a large commercial kitchen. What hasn’t changed is the pursuit of quality and the sourcing of the best possible ingredients particularly from the Beechworth area. For example lemons are sourced from a 100-year old orchard at Staghorn Flat called Tiandi Grove that has old-world varieties not normally seen in the modern orchards. These lemons are used to make distinctive products like the unique range of butters that Beechworth Preserves produce. Our Products All Have Unique Original Recipes, All Are Natural and Handmade With Love and Integrity.
Beechworth Preserves has been in the industry of making Quality Handmade All Natural Preserves for a period of 4 Years.
The business started as a home kitchen, Country market stall , and due to popular demand has grown to a large commercial kitchen & retail based business.
Beechworth Preserves started with the ideal of only using local produce, this was an environmental ideal of mine to support the local growers and to cut down waste involved in the transport of goods and to support the local economy.
Beechworth Preserves now uses a recycled kitchen in Beechworth that was a relic left from a Government Institution. The Kitchen is now owned by La Trobe University, and we are happy in the knowledge that Beechworth Preserves is assisting education through this lease by assisting with La Trobes funding.
This new facility that Beechworth Preserves has to produce its products has allowed the company to seek new markets, as the production capacity of the business is now 100 times the home based kitchen. Beechworth Preserves has been at this facility for 3 years and has grown markets in NSW & Victoria during that time, while putting much needed systems and processes in place, to maintain the quality with the increased production. Beechworth Preserves is now ready to find new markets.
Jayne Thatcher who is the Proprietor of Beechworth Preserves has extensive experience in the hospitality Industry, both as a Restaurant owner and Caterer. This has given Jayne the creative flare to blend flavours and fruits together.
Past businesses included the Curry Bazaar Restaurant in Crows Nest Sydney and the Boardroom Catering business Gourmet au Go Go based in Leichhardt.
The Beechworth Label is solely based around seasonal local produce and The Spirited Chef label uses a blend of Regional & Non Regional produce.
Beechworth Products are distributed in NSW & Victoria, and has been successful in securing a small market share in the specialty food market.
