Herbie spent his childhood surrounded by herbs and spices, when his parents, John and Rosemary Hemphill, were pioneering the herb and spice scene in Australia in the 1950's. Thirty years of working in the industry has made Herbie a well-respected and popular figure amongst his peers, in Australia and overseas. With his wife Elizabeth, Herbie is now enjoying sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with his customers at Herbie's Spices. His recently published book "Spice Notes - a cook's compendium of herbs and spices" has been well received. His mission is to demystify and encourage greater use of herbs and spices in everyday cooking.
