It's now well under a year until Herbie takes the next Spice Discovery Tour to India - world stability allowing.
Visits to such unforgettable monuments as Taj Mahal and Jaipurs Wind Palace are mandatory for travellers to India. Thats why we begin in the tourist triangle of Northern India. Not so well known is the charming Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel, once a comfortable country family home, where a splendid lunch is provided to sustain us on our drive to Jaipur from Agra.
Travel is mostly by road, giving us excellent opportunities to observe the day-to-day life of the locals.
The itinerary has been carefully planned to allow a wide range of activities, including local cooking classes and cultural displays, with plenty of free time for relaxing. You will see the romantic Chinese fishing nets in Cochin harbour, Vasco da Gamas burial site, and historic Jewtown. Herbie will help you haggle for saffron in the markets, and perhaps introduce you to some remarkable fake saffron.

Maeve O'Meara is a food author, broadcaster, television producer and presenter. For the past 18 years she has travelled the world sampling food and for the past 9 years has written about food in Australia.
1n 1998 she started her own food tourism business, Gourmet Safaris, a series of hosted banquet dinners in some of great undiscovered exotic restaurants and walking tours of interesting food suburbs around Sydney as well as overseas safaris with the first to Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico in May 2000 and a second trip to the Greek Islands in September 2001 & 2002.
On the International front, Gourmet Safaris are travelling to Greece again in September 2003.
